Daytrip to Montserrat from Barcelona

I saw a photo of Monsterrat while researching for daytrip options while in Barcelona, and got convinced that I just have to go there. It was one of those cases where the real thing did not live up to my expectations. On hindsight, I wished i had spent more time exploring Barcelona instead.

The trip itself is easily doable on your own. Trains leave from Placa Espanya in Barcelona and take you directly to the monastery. You can buy combined tickets from Placa Espanya, which covers a return ticket and funiculars for 25 EUR (add 15 EUR for lunch and museum).
